RESTORATION AND CONSERVATION

We welcome our two experts to Restoration Day at the Gallery in Rochester on 5th November, from 11am to 3pm. Jane McNamara who concentrates on watercolours and all works of art in paper ( photographs, etchings etc) and Gilly Kinlock, who specialises in oils. In the images here, we can see two oils which have had a test clean, one on the ruff and one over half of the face. The 'Before' and 'After' images of the exquisite Aumbry Doors show how restoration can transform sad, neglected pieces to the glowing colours the artist intended them to be. Complete in their frame, they are glorious.

Bring your paintings to the Gallery to have an opportunity to discuss the work with our highly qualified restorers

Before (above) and after (right)

We have worked with fully qualified restorers for many years who specialise in oil on canvas and board and in watercolours, etchings, photographic work and paper conservation.

We have also carried out some very serious restoration for the Military and we can supply references.

Restoration is not like dry cleaning and can take many months, perhaps a year. The cost can be well under £100 but in any case we give an accurate price before work commences.
