DEBORAH PHILLIPS - REID BA (HONS)
A degree in Silversmithing, Goldsmithing & Jewellery has allowed Deborah to incorporate many of her interests within her design work, for example her love of nature and photography. The inspiration for many of her designs comes from the world of nature, mainly as floral forms.
Working from photographs of the floral forms, she translates their organic sensuous curves into geometric motifs. These motifs are used as single entities or as multiples to create wonderful lace like patterns, and by adjusting the complexity of the pattern a myriad of different combinations can be offered. Her work encompasses both jewellery and silversmithing in mixed metals and other media, working in both traditional handcrafted techniques, i.e. piercing, (another of her passions), and newer technologies i.e. CAD and Laser.
