“My creative output varies from the abstract to the naturalistic. I explore formal qualities and visual language as a means of expressing often complex ideas about the world we inhabit and the nature of human experience and relationships. Recent work concentrates on human form, expressed in a semi-abstract way by manipulating steel, stainless steel and bronze. Work ranges from small gallery pieces to large scale public and private commissions.
My figures are captured and constrained within sculptural forms that attempt to express both the elegance and an awkward discomfort of the human condition. Work evolves by experimentation with materials and process which, i feel, leads to a greater honesty in the sculpture. I try to make sculptures that have a physical dynamic together with logic of form and an engagement with the subject matter.”
