Loes Agoust
The garden of Loës Agoust, situated on the Welsh Borders where she lives, must be an incredible sight to behold. When she is not painting she is weeding, planting, re-planting or sometimes digging drainage ditches ! It`s not a manicured garden for sure, but a riot of colour and contrast which she uses to great effect in her paintings. It`s a magical place into which the odd cat or child strays, and they`re painted for posterity too.
“I have made for myself The Perfect Life as an Artist. I live precisely as I choose and I paint precisely what I like. Translate that into Reality Speak and what it means is that I spend my life nosing around between finding my favourite brushes, searching in the cupboards for the spare tube of cobalt, feeding the animals, shoving plastic sheeting over the easel as soon as the rain starts and wishing I wasn’t doing the washing–up at a quarter to midnight.
Ah! Life was ever thus! Loes”
